A timeless story told in a modern way. I was not sure what to expect when I started the book, but was pleasantly surprised at the fact I did not want to put the book down. In fact, I read the entire book over one weekend! Several times I caught myself wanting to look ahead to see what would happen next; yet at the same time not wanting to look ahead, as the suspense was gripping and I did not want to ruin the read.A few times the story and dialogue seemed a bit predictable, but this was quickly swallowed up by a twist in the story and excellent storytelling, which left you wondering what was actually going to happen next.
The story was told through the eyes of one main character (the younger brother), yet the reader also had glimpses into the perspective of the father and older brother -- helping the reader clearly see the consequences our actions and words have on those around us.
It is a book which gently challenges perspectives, beliefs, and choices, helping the reader come to a conclusion about what is truly important in life. And this is done in a very realistic way, not sidestepping difficult issues of forgiveness, pain, and betrayel.
Perfect balance of an enjoyable read interwoven with life lessons for those who would seek to go deeper.

I really enjoyed reading this book! The author does a great job of putting the reader in the main characters shoes and making the reader on edge as the story unfolds. The twist is set up spectacularly and I really felt like these events were happening to me.
